Carmel Parks Department Offers Many Choices in Summer Camps

Carmel Clay Parks & Recreation (CCPR) is now accepting registration for its 2018 Summer Camp Series. Camps begin June 4 and take place Monday-Friday through August 3. Camp hours of operation vary from 7 a.m.-6 p.m. to 7:30 a.m.-5:30 p.m., with times based on the specific camp.

Summer Camps are available for children ages 5-15 and take place at various locations throughout Carmel including the Monon Community Center, various parks and district schools. The series includes 12 camps for families to choose from based on each child’s interests. Some of the camps have specific themes which include sports, theater, art, science and leadership.

Most camps include weekly field trips and visits to The Waterpark throughout the summer. Some scheduled field trips include the Indianapolis Zoo, the Indianapolis Children’s Museum, SkyZone and more. Campers should plan to bring a sack lunch and snack with them to camp each day.

“Our summer camps are a unique opportunity for kids to have variety in their day-to-day activities during the summer,” said Ben Johnson, Director of the Summer Camp Series. “Each camp has its own theme, and there is a new focus each week based on the camp. Campers love getting to experience different things each week and spend time with their friends.”

Parents can choose to enroll their child(ren) in just one week of camp or the full summer based on their needs and availability. Camps fill up quickly, so parents are encouraged to register online at carmelclayparks.com soon.
