Carmel Clay Parks & Recreation Launches New Series Titled “My Park”
In Carmel Clay Parks & Recreation’s (CCPR) efforts to provide environmentally-focused programs to the community, they are delighted to launch a new series titled “My Park,” an interpretive and park stewardship program that focuses on the natural history of the parks.
The program is geared toward individuals 16+ years, will run annually, May-September, and will spotlight different parks each year. This year’s line-up includes: Flowing Well Park, Central Park East Woods, Central Park West Lagoon and West Park. No registration is needed; interested parties can show up at each park at the date/time specified below.
Flowing Well Park
Thursday, June 28, 6-7pm (5100 E 116th Street)
Central Park East Woods Picnic Shelters
Thursday, July 26, 6-7pm (1235 Central Park Drive East – left at the first roundabout)
Central Park Water Features
Thursday, August 16, 6-7pm (1235 Central Park Drive East - Meet just off the Monon Greenway, under the Monon Community Center Oasis/Skywalk)
West Park Prairie
Thursday, September 27, 6-7pm (2700 W. 116th Street)
“Since coming on board just a few months ago, CCPR’s desire to focus on environmental education is insurmountable. I am very excited to be a part of this team and offer environmental and educational opportunities to the community. Anytime you dig into natural history and get your hands dirty, it leaves a lasting impression of the importance of our environment,” said Brittany McAdams, Natural Resources Coordinator for CCPR.
Community members are also encouraged to get involved with this series by volunteering. It is CCPR’s hope that the success of this program series will create ambassadors for the parks and encourage others to become a part of their education to the community.
