Carmel-based Seven Corners, Inc. celebrates 25 years

Seven Corners Inc., an innovative international travel insurance and specialty benefit management company based in Carmel is celebrating its 25-year anniversary this month. Since its inception in 1993, Seven Corners has grown its team to more than 220 employees committed to servicing more than a million customers worldwide, including international travelers, U.S. government agencies, corporations, foreign governments and insurance companies.

From operating at a loss of $499 in its first year to a revenue of $78 million in 2017, Seven Corners continues to focus on profitability and steadily increasing its top-line. Seven Corners was founded by seasoned industry professionals Justin Tysdal and Jim Krampen in December 1993 and remains one of the only privately held travel insurance companies. Tysdal and Krampen wanted to create a company that was focused on customer service and, in doing so, have remained committed to keeping all their services and staffing under one roof.

Through a wide range of travel insurance plans and specialty benefit management services, Seven Corners delivers health, safety and security to customers when they are away from home. Through steady growth and opportunities, the company has diversified its services to include government business, including the Federal Bureau of Prisons — through which Seven Corners currently administers health care services for 25,000 federal inmates in 16 federal prisons across the country — and third-party administration (TPA) services — which are available in all 50 states nationwide.

“The 25th anniversary of Seven Corners is truly a celebration of how far we’ve come while keeping an eye on where we want to go,” said Justin Tysdal, CEO and co-founder of Seven Corners. “We’re excited to reflect on our history and look forward to seeing where we’ll be in another 25 years.”

From starting as a team of two to growing to a team of more than 220 employees, Seven Corners fosters a diverse environment where more than 10 languages are spoken. In recent years, Seven Corners earned a Silver Stevie Award for Customer Service Team of the Year in the 12th Annual Stevie Awards for Sales and Customer Service, was named a finalist for TechPoint’s MIRA Company Culture of the Year in 2018, was identified by The Elliot Readers’ Choice Awards as one of the top travel insurance companies in 2018, and was recognized as a winner of the Central Indiana 2018 Top Workplaces Award.

“Twenty-five years ago, we saw an opportunity to create a service that would resonate with the industry,” said Jim Krampen, co-founder of Seven Corners. “Today, the company is a truly scalable corporation, and we’re excited for continued growth.”
