Carmel Redevelopment Director honored by IBJ’s ‘Forty Under 40’
Henry Mestetsky, the Executive Director of the Carmel Redevelopment Commission, has been honored by the Indianapolis Business Journal and its annual “Forty Under 40” feature that highlights entrepreneurs, doctors, government officials and executives considered by the news publication as a group of “Indy's rising stars.”
“I am deeply humbled and I recognize that this honor is not about me as much as it is about the dynamic vision that our City leaders and my predecessors put into motion and helped carry out over time, along with the hard work of the Redevelopment Commission and department staff,” said Mestetsky, who is 33 and was appointed Director in 2017 after serving two years as a CRC Commissioner.
Mestetsky has spent most of his first year as Director overseeing the rapidly changing landscape of the Midtown and City Center redevelopment areas, where mixed-use office and commercial buildings have been in various stages of construction. He has also turned his attention to new projects along the Monon Greenway and Main Street and the future Hotel Carmichael, helping to carry out a mission of attracting new jobs, expanding our corporate workforce and drawing new residents to help Carmel’s central corridor become a more vibrant, walkable and sustainable area.
“We congratulate Henry on this accomplishment, which we feel is very much deserved based on the amount of work he has already accomplished in his short term as Director,” said Carmel Mayor Jim Brainard.
Henry was born in Kiev, Ukraine and moved to the U.S. 1994. He would go on to earn degrees in accounting and finance from Indiana University’s Kelley School of Business, a law degree from the IU Maurer School of Law and spend time living in Paris and Washington, DC, where he became inspired to “build things and create.” He shared other facts about this life and work in the article, which can be read here.
