The Carmel Symphony Orchestra (CSO) continues its 2019-20 season on December 14 with their annual IU Health Holiday Pops concert. The program will feature both traditional and new holiday favorites with special appearances by the Wright Brothers, Sarah Scharbrough and the Carmel High School Ambassadors. Concerts will take place at the world-class Palladium at the Center for the Performing Arts at 3:00 and 7:30 p.m. Santa will make a special appearance at the 3:00 concert followed by a photo opportunity with children in attendance.
IU Health Holiday Pops has become a holiday tradition for families throughout Central Indiana. This year’s concert will include both new and returning favorites. The Wright Brothers have been delighting audiences throughout the Midwest and beyond since 1972. They are known for their ability to move seamlessly from rock, 1940s pop and Beatles classics, to country, bluegrass and gospel. In all, the band has had nine singles on Billboard’s Hot 100 Country Charts. They also appeared in and are featured on the soundtrack of the 1987 comedy classic, Overboard, starring Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell.
Sarah Scharbrough McLaughlin is an Indianapolis-based singer/songwriter with a national reputation for writing and performing soul-stirring music. Using her classical and jazz background and incorporating some gospel, country, and pop, she writes about life with depth, sincerity, raw emotion and humor. She has collaborated with numerous Grammy Award winning artists and has released five albums. Carmel’s own Carmel High School Ambassadors will also take the stage at the IU Health Holiday Pops concert. This national award-winning show choir, founded in 1972, boasts the best of the best that Carmel High School has to offer and will perform some of their favorite holiday showstoppers.
