CSO Announces Kimberly Dimond as new executive director

The Carmel Symphony Orchestra (CSO) is pleased to announce that Kimberly Dimond will join the organization as its next executive director on July 16 replacing president /CEO Dr. Alan Davis, as he retires after nearly two decades of service. Dimond begins her tenure as the CSO embarks on its 43rd season. “We were very pleased with the high caliber of applicants who expressed interest in this position, and we are thrilled to retain someone of Kimberly’s talents, resume and recommendations,” said Larry Lawhead, CSO board chair. “We look forward to her beginning her tenure and to the next season of the CSO!” Dimond most recently served as managing director of the Midland Symphony Orchestra for the Midland Center for the Arts in Midland, Michigan since 2006. Prior to that, she served as corporate relations manager for the Detroit Symphony Orchestra and interim director of music events for Central Michigan University.

Dimond comes to the CSO with a deep love for the arts and innovative programming. “With a background in music and hands-on experience at previous orchestras, my passion for the arts is a lifelong commitment,” says Dimond. “I am dedicated to having a positive and meaningful impact on both the orchestra and the surrounding community.” During her 11 years with MSO, she served as a public representative to community, state and national organizations, led a successful search for a new music director, implemented signature fundraising events, helped curate innovative performances and kept a high focus on education and community outreach activities. She is a graduate of Central Michigan University with a Bachelor of Applied Arts degree in Integrative Public Relations and Music (French horn) and holds a Master of Arts in Arts Administration from Goucher College. As a professional member of the League of American Orchestras, she has completed its Leadership Academy, Essentials of Orchestra Management. Additionally, Dimond is a member of Americans for the Arts and served as an administration panel member representing Goucher College. Her areas of expertise include, orchestra operations, balancing traditional and modern repertoire, fundraising initiatives, audience development and education/outreach activities. As a versatile professional, she also is highly proficient with numerous software and design platforms, as well as, creating engaging social media content and advertising campaigns. “The support of the arts in Carmel is exceptional, and partnered with Janna’s enthusiasm and the wonderful orchestra, I’m excited about what opportunities lie ahead and what we can accomplish together,” says Dimond. “I look forward to meeting everyone in person, and the start of the season this fall.”

New faces, programs and orchestral music are in store for audiences of the Carmel Symphony Orchestra (CSO) as it launches its 43rd season, “Janna & Friends,” the first entirely programmed by music director, Maestro Janna Hymes. All concerts are performed at The Palladium at The Center for the Performing Arts where the CSO is the resident orchestra.
