Carmel Clay Historical Society appoints new Interim Executive Director

The Carmel Clay Historical Society has appointed Debbie Gangstad as its new Interim Executive Director to lead the organization, its activities and archiving duties. Debbie replaces Emily Ehrgott, who has stepped down from her role in order to return to teaching.

Debbie is a lifelong Carmel resident with a passion for both teaching and history. She is a retired Carmel Clay Schools teacher. She has enjoyed volunteering with Carmel Education Foundation, Tri Kappa, Carmel Arts Council Guild, and Carmel Clay Public Library Foundation Guild. Since her retirement, she has been a passionate volunteer and board member of the Carmel Clay Historical Society. She co-chaired the Holiday Home Tour the past two years.

Emily Ehrgott served as executive director for two years. Under her leadership, membership has increased and our events have become more popular in the community. Her passion and energy will be greatly missed and we hope she will remain active in the organization.

The Board will soon be advertising for a new executive director, which is a part-time position.
