Giant Eagle becomes 1st retailer in country to partner with OfferUp
Partnership will expand reach of OfferUp’s Community MeetUp Spots program to select GetGo locations.

Giant Eagle, Inc. has announced the launch of a first-of-its-kind partnership with OfferUp™, the nation’s largest mobile marketplace.
Now, customers who buy or sell items within the OfferUp mobile app can select the Carmel, Rockville or Plainfield GetGo locations as their Community MeetUp Spot, where they can complete their transactions in a secure location that is monitored, well-lit and surveilled. Community MeetUp Spots will be designated by “OfferUp” signage and transactions will be welcome during the in-store café hours of operation.
“We have always considered it our responsibility to meet the needs of our customers and to add value to the communities we serve,” said Giant Eagle spokesperson Jannah Jablonowski. “With this partnership, our hope is to provide a safe and convenient environment for our customers to accomplish one more thing while they’re stopping in for a made-fresh-to-order sub or filling up their tank at GetGo.”
The partnership also includes a digital coupon for OfferUp customers, who can get a free 16 oz. bottle of Market District Ready-to-Drink Tea or Lemonade when they make plans to meet at a participating GetGo location.

To get the coupon, customers who are communicating via OfferUp’s in-app chat feature, should:
Suggest meeting at the Carmel, Rockville or Plainfield GetGo
When prompted, select “Get Free Item” to get the coupon for a free drink, and select “Find Locations” to get a list of participating stores
Get the exclusive coupon for a free drink in the app, and redeem it at participating stores when meeting up to exchange
In addition to the partnership with Giant Eagle, OfferUp collaborates with more than 1,400 police departments across the country to create their version of an OfferUp Community MeetUp Spot, to help buyers and sellers come to in-person transactions with added peace of mind. Expanding OfferUp Community MeetUp Spots to popular retail locations, like Giant Eagle, complements the many safety features that OfferUp has already built into their app including TruYou identity confirmation, user ratings and reviews, and secure in-app messaging that allows customers to communicate without having to share their personal information.
“OfferUp’s partnership with Giant Eagle is the first-of-its-kind between a local marketplace and leading retailer. We’re both community-driven companies that thrive on delivering friendly and trusted experiences for our customers,” said Natalie Angelillo, VP of Community at OfferUp. “This is about providing our customers with value and convenience, regardless of whether they’re buying something from their neighbor, shopping for groceries, or fueling up their tank.”
