Friday, February 8, 2019, 6:30-10:00 p.m.: “Setting the Table for Good Design”
“Setting the Table for Good Design” will kick off the weekend and be a ticketed cocktail party to unveil elegant tabletop displays decorated by the state’s leading interior designers. The special guest speaker is world-renowned artist Hunt Slonem. Slonem will discuss his artwork, creative process and passion for design and collecting through a moderated conversation.
Some may know Slonem from his signature “Bunnies” paintings which have been replicated into fabrics and wallcoverings by Kravet and fashion apparel by Ecco. Globally, more than 100 museums include his work in their collections, among them the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum and the Whitney Museum of American Art in New York City. Locally, Slonem has a large collection of paintings within the Indianapolis Children’s Museum. He also has several books that feature both his artwork and mansion renovations.
A portion of the ticket sales will benefit the Riley Children’s Foundation Art Therapy program, which as the event celebrates art and design, is a natural fit to support the hospital’s Art Therapy program. Says Pamela Fairchild-Clark, major gifts officer for Riley Children’s Foundation, “We are excited to partner with the IDC for the LUXE Design Showcase and highlight the powerful connection between art, creative expression and healing that we see each day at Riley Hospital for Children.”
